Students admitted to the Master’s Program must complete a total of 60 ECTS credits through coursework, including two compulsory courses and electives. Afterward, they must prepare an approved master’s thesis, reaching a total of 120 ECTS credits to graduate.
To be eligible for graduation, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 out of 4. Students who fail their courses or do not meet this GPA requirement are granted an additional one-year period to improve their academic standing.
With the approval of the chair, students may choose up to two elective courses from undergraduate-level courses, provided they have not taken them before. Likewise, students may select elective courses from other departments’ graduate programs, subject to their advisor’s approval.
Additionally, if deemed necessary by the exam committee and the chair, students who have not completed their undergraduate studies in the department may be required to undertake one or two semesters of preparatory coursework.
Students who successfully complete their courses must write an original master’s thesis based on genuine research. This work is conducted under the supervision of an advisor, and students are given one year to complete it. If needed, the advisor may request a one-year extension.
Candidates who successfully defend their thesis before a jury formed in accordance with the Institute’s regulations are awarded the Master of Science (M.Sc.)/Master of Arts (M.A.) degree.
